Massage Therapists assess and treat muscles, fascia, and joints as they relate to pain or dysfunction described by the client. Massage therapy is used for rehabilitation of acute and chronic conditions and promotes deep relaxation. It is also beneficial as a preventative tool for maintaining health. Massage therapy improves circulation, decreases inflammation and improves range of motion in joints which has shown to decrease pain and increase function. Massage therapy can also be effective as relaxation for the treatment of anxiety and depression.
Myofascial release (MFR) is a specific massage therapy technique used to release the connective tissue between muscles and bones. When the movement of this tissue is restricted due to tension or injury, the muscles and bones cannot move properly. MFR aims to relax muscles, improve mobility, improve blood and lymphatic movement, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles. Staying hydrated helps prevent myofascial tension and reduces risk of injury.
For myofascial work, we reccommend clients bring with them a pair of shorts and a tank top.
Prenatal massage can help relax tense muscles, soothe tired joints and sore spots, and boost circulation to promote better health for Momma and baby.
